Galvanized steel sheet piling or hot-dipped galvanized sheet piling will extend the life of the wall. Also regular black steel. 

How long do retaining walls last? 

Retaining walls will last 25-30 years if they are installed correctly and maintained. Maintenance includes painting it when the lake levels drop, and making sure there are no holes in the wall or cracks. 

What sort of draining system should be installed with my retaining wall? 

This all depends on the slope, runoff, and other factors that may be present. 90% of our walls don’t need drains installed. This varies case by case.

How deep is a retaining wall? 

The retaining wall depth varies in different areas around the lake. They are typically 6 to 8 feet in the ground.
